ADJUSTABLE RECESS-IT

Installation Instructions

STEP 1

  • Begin by laying out the Recess-It unit to measure the desired size for installation. Install Side A first, then slide Side B into the unit. Set this to your desired size.
  • If the holes do not line up to your desired size, you will need to drill a new hole using a 1/4 bit. The pilot holes located on side A are designed to accommodate the Maximum possible expansion of the unit*

STEP 2

  • Use the Pre-desired measurements to now outline the back of the unit dimension on the wall. *We recommended using 2×4 to frame the perimeter of the unit*
  • When tracing out the dimensions, be careful not to interfere with any structural wall framing members. This will allow the framed opening to be clear for installation.

STEP 3

  • Add a continuous bead of Silane-Modified Polymer (SMP) sealant along the mounting flange on Side A prior to setting the unit in the wall.
  • Before placing side B, you will want to add a bead of sealant to the Inside of Side A. **having the sealant within one inch from the open end**

STEP 4

  • Before placing side B into side, A *be sure to ADD a Continuous Bead of silane-modifed polymer sealant to the backside of B within one inch from the open end.
  • Also, add continuous beads of sealant around the mounting flange.
  • Now, Place side B into side A
  • Now secure the unit using 1″ Galvanized Roofing Nails.

Floating-Shelf

Place the Floating Shelf directly on the top edge of the
selected tile course. Apply surface bull-nose tile (SBN)
or other finish material to the top and bottom of the
Floating Shelf by using thin-set or mastic to
“sandwich” the shelf unit. Allow the front edge of
applied tiles to extend 1/8” minimum to allow for grout
coverage of the shelf.
